Transparent Watercolor on Crescent Mat Board
Image Size: 8" x 8". Matted Size: 11" x 11"
This is a continuation of my large scale dragonfly
Transparent Watercolor Studies. I had
completed a series of 6" x 6" individual
Watercolor Studies, but wanted a larger
format for a show in June that has requested
a larger painting for 2 entries. It is being
held at the Capitol. You should go, if you have a chance!
I hear there will be a few other decent  artists there, also.

New Dragonfly Watercolors in Beautiful Frames

New Dragonfly Watercolors custom framed by one of my galleries.
Shown is Debbie Smith-Voight, owner of
Smith Custom Framing & Fine Art Gallery
in New Cumberland is displaying some of my latest work
to go on display at her gallery.
I love her choice of frames for these pieces!
The one in detail is a Female Calico Pennant Dragonfly.
Both paintings are 6" x 6" in format
painted in Transparent watercolor on Crescent Mat Board.
Debbbie is the one who suggested I try painting on Mat Board
and now I paint on it almost exclusively.

This is another in my series of Freshwater Fish in North America. It is in the Sunfish or Bream Family of fish. I photographed this painting for six different stages of the painting, to show the technique I use in painting. I use a combination of a series of glazes and very fine dry point. To see the six stages, please visit my web site at: www.thomglacewatercolors.com, and click on the page (you will find the index on the left column)

'Sound of Raasay from the Isle of Skye'

This is what I like to call a linear landscape, playing on vertical lines giving the watercolor painting a modern feeling. I love the starkness of the Scotish Highlands & Hebridies.

'Study of a Bonefish'

This is a commissioned work for Dr. Robert Myers. He also commissioned a set of 3 Giclee prints for his fishing buddies. I am now working on some horse portraits for him of his stable of horses.
